Marlene Duke Obituary

Marlene Odom Duke, 85, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family on May 17, 2021.
Marlene was born on Aug. 10, 1935 in Vidalia to John and Cecile Odom.
A natural artist, Marlene was proficient in oil paint.
She also enjoyed tending her garden, traveling the world, collecting antiques and spending time with her dog, Frankie.
Socially, Marlene was an active member of The Junior League and the Garden Clubs of DeKalb and Forsyth County.
Marlene and her husband, William, were devoted members of the Cumming First United Methodist Church and were actively involved in their Sunday School group.
Marlene practiced residential real estate for over 35 years in the metro Atlanta area and earned a lifetime membership in the Million Dollar Club through her work with Buckhead Brokers.
Marlene is survived by her son, Jim, and his wife Janet; her grandson, Trent, and his wife Kristin; and her grandson, Todd, and his fiancé Anna.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William C. Duke, with whom she shared 63 loving years of marriage.
Visitation was held at 1 p.m. Saturday May 22 at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. A memorial service followed at 2 p.m. in the accompanying chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Gentle Souls Ministry of the Cumming First United Methodist Church, a group that Marlene and William held close to their hearts.
McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming is in charge of the arrangements.
