David Zwetzig Obituary

David Mark Zwetzig, 62, of Wickenberg, AZ passed to his heavenly reward on January 19 in Tucson, Arizona following an extended battle with heart failure. He was born in Fort Morgan to Edward and Catherine Zwetzig. He was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Fort Morgan High School where he enjoyed playing sports and he began life-long friendships. Shortly after graduation, David moved to Mesa, Arizona where he worked in construction and later settled in Wickenburg, Arizona and became an accomplished concrete contractor. Here, he built his dream home, celebrating every accomplishment on the house. He continued to build many more family-like friendships and strong working associations. David was a perfectionist on the jobsite and was most proud of the reputation he had for quality work. He loved the Arizona climate and was always happy to return home after visits to family in Colorado. He absolutely cherished motorbiking with friends across the southwest and loved everything motorcycle. David endured years of medical issues after being diagnosed in 2013 with heart failure. Yet, he always maintained a positive attitude and continued working until the very end of his life. David's wit and dry humor will be missed at holidays and family get-togethers. His attention to detail and his willingness to help everyone will forever be remembered and cherished. While he will be sorely missed, his family and friends are comforted in knowing that he is now free of pain and limitations in heaven. David was a loyal friend and cherished son, brother and uncle/great-uncle. He is survived by brother Jim (Kim) Zwetzig of Fort Morgan, sister Rose (Roger) Thompson of Eaton, and sister Pat (Steve) Baker of Woodrow and their families, all of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and a nephew. David's ashes will be scattered on a favorite motorcycle route near Prescott, AZ. A memorial service will be held in Fort Morgan on March 5, 2022 at 10:30 at Shepherd of the Plains Lutheran Church, 629 Ensign Street. Memorials may be made in David's name to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
