Adam Liechty Obituary

ADAM J. LIECHTY, 90, of Berne, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, 12:45 a.m., at Adams Memorial Hospital. He was a World War II veteran; member of First Mennonite Church and Gideon's International; and retired Berne businessman. Surviving are his wife, Julia G. Beitler-Liechty of Berne; children, Anita C. (Daniel) Wenger of Berne, Rev. Stanley W. Liechty of Port Huron, Mich., John M. Liechty of Ypsilanti, Mich., Dallas C. Liechty of Osceola, Ind., and Audrey M. (Gary H.) Kah of Fishers; step children, Robert B. Beitler of Forest, Ohio, John S. Beitler of Kennet Square, Pa., Christine A. (Laurence) Nofsiger of Alberta, Canada, and Stanley W. Beitler of Bluffton; 15 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella (Sprunger), in 1987. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at First Mennonite Church, with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating. Visitation also from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne. Burial in M.R.E. Cemetery. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this time of bereavement. We do however, rejoice with Adam's homegoing. He will be missed, not only by family, but in the Gideon ministry which he thoroughly enjoyed.
