ADAM SPIETH Obituary

ADAM C. "BILL" SPIETH, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born May 4, 1923, he was the son of the late William and Cecilia (Bacon) Spieth. He married Grace E. Towsley, she preceded him in death in December 1995. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946, receiving the Navy/ Marine Corp Medal of Honor. He retired from G.E. in 1983 after 43 years of service and retired from farming in 2004 but still managed a great garden. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, an active member with the Allen County 40-8-Voiture 37, VFW Post 10006, the American Legion Post 296 and the Navy Club Ship 245. Surviving are his son, Michael "Mike" (Rosemary) Spieth of Monroeville; brother, Daniel "Dan" (Eileen) Spieth of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Michele (Roger) Bartholomew of Apple Valley, Calif.; three great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Vera Bradtmiller, Janice Voirol and Thelma Spieth in infancy; brothers, Jack Spieth, Cletus Spieth and Darwin in infancy. Service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest, 9909 Wayne Trace, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Kyle Krueger officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. Burial in Monroeville Cememtery with graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post 420 of Monroeville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Monroeville EMS or Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest.
