ALAN McMAHAN

1937 - 2022

ALAN McMAHAN, 84, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2022. Born in Fort Wayne on March 26, 1937, he was the son of Allan and Viola McMa han. He attended both North Side High School and DePauw University. Meeting people and selling residential Real Estate was a passion of his that lasted more than 45 years. Alan loved living in Fort Wayne and contributing to the community through volunteer activities. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Fort Wayne, a member of the City Plan Commission, and served on the Boards of Arts United, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and the Youth Theater. He was a Trustee on the Allen County Public Library Foundation and served on the Allen County Public Library Board of Directors for 32 years. Alan also enjoyed politics in the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's and served as the Republican City Chairman as well as a member of the District and State Finance Committees. In 1976, he received The Sagamore of the Wabash award. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 49 years and served on the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee. Alan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edee; a son, Pete McMahan; daughter, Lori (Jerry) Reinking; grandson, Jeff Reinking; granddaughter, Jennie Reinking; and a brother, Tom McMahan of Arlington, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Stuart McMahan. "A huge thank you to North Woods Village and Heartland Hospice for their outstanding care and support." Because of Covid, there will be a private service with no calling. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery.
