Allen Furr Dewey

Allen Furr Dewey, 79, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on June 22, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 2, 1944, in Greenville, NC, the youngest of 5 children, to the late Jean and Vivian (Avery) Dewey. Allen graduated from Villanova University with a Master's degree in Electronics Engineering. He served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969, and was a Vietnam era veteran. After his service, he worked for Wyeth Labs and then for the Federal Government, as an Electronic Engineer for CECOM in New Jersey and in Ft. Wayne. He retired in 2010 as the Chief, and Contracting Officer of the Army Field Office (SINCGARS) at ITT in Ft. Wayne. Allen was married to Caroline (Freiburger) Dewey in 2001 and together they raised three children, Patrick (Chiara) Ayelle, Marie (Angelo) Mante, and Sunni (Nozomi) Ayelle, and have 9 grandchildren. Allen is also survived by his siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" Rigler and Arthur (Helen) Dewey. His parents, along with brothers Don and John preceded him in death. He enjoyed discussing sports & politics, travel, playing cards, books and the grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1102 S. Clinton Street, Ft. Wayne (46802) with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne (46805). Burial with military honors will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne following the service.
