ANNE WHEELER SHULL

ANNE WHEELER SHULL, 77, of Auburn, Ind., passed away March 16, 2021, at Parkview Hospital - Randallia. Born Feb. 25, 1944, in Washington, D.C., Anne was the daughter of the late Richard and Gladys Wheeler. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington D.C. and graduated from Randolph Macon Women's College with a degree in English Composition. She was the owner of three maternity stores in three states, Lady Madonna and Anna Belle Maternity and loved caring for expectant mothers to be. Anne was an active member of PSI IOTA XI Sorority and relished being part of the "Cheese Ball Crew" and volunteered many hours for the Parade of Homes. She relished traveling, but adored Vancouver, Canada, walking Stanley Park with her husband many times. Countless hours were devoted to gardening. Her favorite flower was the Geranium. O. Henry was a favorite author, in particular the short story 'The Gift of the Magi'. She read the Wall Street Journal every day and studied the electoral process as her grandfather, Burton K. Wheeler, was the senior Senator from Montana during the Roosevelt era. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 wonderful years of marriage, Gregg; son, Walter (Wendy) Layman; and grandchildren, Jacob and Sage. Also surviving are her stepson, Deric (Beth); granddaughters, Erin and Katie; brother, Burt (Sharon) Wheeler; niece, Kendall Lafontaine; and nephew, Kyle Wheeler. Memorial service is noon Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling from 10 a.m. to noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials, in Anne's name, are to the Peggy F. Murphy Community Grief Center or the Parkview Hospital Foundation.
