Anthony Onorato Obituary

ANTHONY D. "TONY" ONORATO, 65, of Lafayette, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at his residence. Born July 1, 1943, in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Anthony F. and Julia (Lob-rillo) Onorato, he graduated from Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne in 1961 and attended Purdue University. A U.S. Army veteran, he married Angie D. (McNaughton) Christopher on Nov. 24, 1996, in Las Vegas; she survives. He and his wife were co-owners of Panini Deli from 1998 to 2007. Prior to that, he was the District Supervisor for Pizza Hut for 23 years. He attended Battle Ground United Methodist Church. He was a chairperson in fundraising for the Red Cross, helped with fundraising for the United Way and was involved with Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid woodworker and fisherman. He enjoyed attending his children's athletic events and spending time with and visiting with all his customers from Panini Deli. In addition to his wife, surviving are three sons, Rob Onorato of Tempe, Ariz., Rob Jones of Lafayette and William Christopher, at home; three daughters, Trudi Musick of Ladoga and Emma and Rachel Christopher, at home; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial service is 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Battle Ground United Methodist Church, 201 Tipton St., Battle Ground, Ind., with visitation two hours prior. Pastor Brian White officiating. Tony's dad started Tony's Pizza I think it was at the Gay 90's then later in Wayndale back in the late 50's. We were also neighbors in Lakewood in Wayndale. Rest in peace Tony.
