BILL BEARD Obituary

BILL E. BEARD, 75, of Monroeville, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 10:04 a.m., Lutheran Hospital of Indiana. He had been in failing health since August of 2011. He He served his country in the United States Army. He married Shirley A. Adams on Nov. 30, 1958, in Delphos, Ohio; she passed away on Aug. 28, 2001. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Monroeville where he had served as trustee for many years and the American Legion Post 420. He retired in 1986 as a mechanic from Phelps-Dodge with 33 years of service. He was a resident of Monroeville since 1961. He enjoyed gardening and he was a Purdue Boilermaker and Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed repairing things for family and friends. Surviving are his daughters, Diana K. (Kenneth) Harris and Rita M. (Daniel) Scott, both of Monroeville; son, Bill E. (Sandra) Beard of Fort Wayne; daughter, Jacque R. (Raymond) Diedrich of Monroeville; brother, Russell Beard of Convoy, Ohio; fiance, Virginia A. Bauman of Monroeville; special nephew, Rick (Deb) Beard of New Haven; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Carl, Robert, and Leo Beard; and one sister, Lola Beard. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at United Methodist Church, Monroeville, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. Burial in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Military graveside service to be conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W. Preferred memorials to United Methodist Church - Monroeville or the Cornerstone Youth Center in Monroeville. Bill was one of the sweetest, kindest and most generous men we have ever met. It was an honor and a pleasure to have known him. We know he will be resting peacefully in Heaven. Our heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends and to Virginia.
