So sorry to hear of Brian's passing. I just now stumbled across the news on Facebook. He was my stand partner in Northrop band and I enjoyed his talents onstage as well. May God comfort his family during this sad time.

*My heart's still flowing: During the past few years, Brian and I would email one another to compare kidney and blood levels (including dialysis and plasma pheresis stories), since he & Arnie shared these in common. He would always reassure and talk lightly and frankly of life's foibles, such as why one dies young or gets cancer or needs a transplant. You never took life too seriously, Brian, and were always fun to be around; you were so easy to love! But you faced your own demise with depth, humor, honesty and dignity. You were truly one of a kind, and it's Heaven's gain. God be with you until we meet again. -Always, Sylvia

Dear family, I was very sad to learn about Brian's death. I knew him during his Northrop years. Brian was very energetic, creative and fun loving in show choir, musicals and marching band. We double dated for my junior prom and we went to my senior prom together. He was a kind friend. May the Lord be especially near to you during this time, and in the months and years ahead when you miss him. May the outpouring of support and fond memories from others bring you comfort.

So sorry to hear about Brian. Through a few brief FB messages with him, I had thought he was doing better. He was a good friend, a great leader and an all around nice guy. My Bruin choir memories of him are many and cherished.

To those of us who have lived out of the area for many years this comes as quite a shock. Our prayers are with Brian's family and friends at this most difficult time. God grant peace and healing according to His good and gracious will.

Brian was such a great friend from high school and during our days in theatre in Fort Wayne. he was my prom date our Sr. year. i had very few close friends in high school, but Brian was definitely one of them. Though we had not seen each other in many years he was always held close in my heart! He is missed by so many and will be missed by me forever.

I remember Brian mostly after his Northrop years, but that's when my brother and sister both knew him (Sheryl and Denny ["Mr. B."] Bechtelheimer). I seems as though we both knew a lot of the same people, and I always thought of him kindly even when we weren't able to see each other all the time/often. I remember he had an extra ticket for the touring show of "Sweeney Todd" at the Embassy one year way back then, and asked if I wanted to go sit with him; it was the only way I could have afforded it at the time, so I appreciated it tremendously! That's just the kind of person he was... I may have been able to do only a couple of shows actually with him, but we were friends until I moved away from Fort Wayne in 1983. RIP, Brian, my Friend. You deserve a good pain-free, tranquil rest. Know that you were deeply appreciated and loved... (If you have a minute and are able to do so, please look up Larry Life and Wayne and Jan Schaltenbrand, along with Brian, with a big hug from me for all four, ok?) All my love with warm memories, Sylvia Bechtelheimer

Brian and I shared the stage many times. I was glad when he moved to NYC to follow his dreams. He came home to loved ones and friends and we were all happy to see he was fighting the good fight. Rest easy my friend, we will miss you but always carry your memory in our hearts.
