CHARLES LORD Obituary

CHARLES "CHUCK" LORD, 92, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at Sycamore Village, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Chuck graduated from North Side High School and earned his bachelors degree from Ball State University. He was a World War II Army veteran. Chuck was V.P. Treasurer with Midwestern United Life for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Clear Lake Lutheran Church. Chuck served on the Ball State Foundation Board; Goodwill Board; Y.M.C.A. Board and The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo Board. He was active with the Boy Scouts serving as Past President and Treasurer. While in the Boy Scouts he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. During his youth he enjoyed snow skiing, golfing, and was an avid sailor for many years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling as they traveled extensively around the world. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca (David) Terreo of Box Elder, S.D.; grandsons, Jeremy and Justin Lord; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Jackson Lord; and siblings, George Lord of Fort Wayne, Maragaret Mason of Warsaw, and Elizabeth Crawford of Hartselle, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Geneva Lord; wife, Jacquelyn Lord; son, Charles E. Lord; daughter, Martha Lord Gorman; and sister, Helen Steinhouser. Service is 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with calling from noon to 2 p.m. Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials to Clear Lake Lutheran Church, The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, Boys Scouts of America or Ball State University. On behalf of all of us at The Hearth at Sycamore Village we extend our sympathy to all of you. Chuck was a vital part of our community and we enjoyed his presence and wonderful smile. He seemed to love life, even in these latter more difficult days. Blessings to each of you as remember him and celebrate his life.
