COREY McCORMICK Obituary

COREY P. McCORMICK, 40, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a member of Harlan Church of Christ and 4 Seasons Bass Club. He was an avid bass fisherman, enjoyed playing chess, family cookouts and birthdays. He was always ready to lend a hand and was a very loyal and loving friend. He would visit friends in the hospital, so they knew that someone cared. "He was the best dad in the world, strong but fair and his beautiful blue eyes will be missed." He had a very unique humor, making up funny songs, but most of all he was a loving husband, father and son. Surviving are his wife, Melody A. McCormick of Columbia City; mother, Shirley McCormick of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kimberly McCormick-Haws of Columbia City; son, Jordan McCormick at home; stepson, Motaqid Qadri of Fort Wayne; brothers, Adam (Candy) McCormick and Rick (Tressa) McCormick, both of Fort Wayne; sister, Lisa (Brian) Kolbasky of Fort Wayne; and grandmother, Freda Hyde of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by father, Richard McCormick; and sister, Laurie McCormick. Service is 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with Preacher Terry Carter officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Melody and Shirley,
We are so sorry to hear of Corey's passing. Although we only met Cory once, we remember hearing from you both of what a great husband and son that he was. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am filled with sorrow to hear of Corey's passing. Corey had a big heart. He loved his kids, he loved God and he loved to laugh. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever." Rev. 21:4 Though the spirit is weak, I pray you hold tight to God's strong hands for they can carry you when all seems impossible to bear. My deepest sympathies to you Kimberly and Jordan.

We did not get to enjoy better times together with Corey as many did, but we were instantly drawn to him at our PAH support group meetings. We wished to get to know both Corey and Melody better. My wife and I our lifting up the family in our prayers.
