i first met dan at sweeney skate park in 1988 or 89 i don't quite rember the exact year. dan was stylish or his board. smooth, fast and not scared of any trick. he did huge ollie norths to fakie, with all of that blond hair hanging out of his helment. he could stale fish any ramp any were any time. dan was a stand out. he was so funny. i often wonder where it came from. then i would watch him skate and realise that he was a natural at everything. even when he would come out to bob's barn ramp in huntington and skate he was on point with his bag of tricks and wit. never a dull moment with dan. we always looked foreward to seeing the ft. wayne crew show up at bob's ramp. it was mayhem. we lost a good friend and a brother. skaters are like one big family once your in. dan was one of us. from all of dan's friends he made through skateboarding we will miss him alot. we also give our condolences to his entire family. i hope to still see sammy at the park next year. god bless dan cook!

Some of my fondest memories were times that I spent with Dan growing up. Whenever I had trying times in my life Dan was always there with an open ear, and a helping hand.

Dan was an excellent drummer. He and I played in a band together for a year and a half. He was the backbone of the group. Booking shows, making flyers, and promo packs were always his specialty since he was so creative and artistic.

I loved Dan like a brother... Our relationship over the past two years had not been as strong, but I know if I would have needed him he would have been there. You could always count on good old Dan.

I love ya bro and I will truly miss you.

My deepest sympathy is extended to Dan's entire family.

It was years ago the last time I seen you. Hanging out in the streets watching you guys skate and mess with those stupid stereos,--those were the good days. Times have passed and so has my friend but your memory, your memory will always be here in our hearts forever. Please Dan continue to put smiles on the faces you meet and watch over us untill we meet again.

Dan was a great friend of my brother for many years. As a result of their friendship, my family and I knew Dan as a fun, happy person, always willing to give of his time to lend a hand or be a part of the things that were important to my brother (Derek) and our family.

I will never forget the time that Dan eagerly assisted my brother’s and I with the repair of our broken down truck… a daunting task that took days to complete in the infamous “Super Shops” (as his garage at home was commonly referred as). I remember the fun time we had jumping from junk yard to junk yard looking for the parts we needed as we desperately leaned on Dan to improvise a solution to get the truck running again. One of Dan’s most wonderful traits was his enormous generosity.

Dan will forever be remembered with fond memories and his passing will leave such a significant hole in hearts and minds of the many people that had the opportunity to know him. He had such a positive impact on many people.

The Quandt family is extremely sad to learn of Dan’s misfortune, but is convinced that he is in a better place. We offer our most sincere condolences to your family and pray for all of you during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Jason Quandt and Family
