David Carpenter Obituary

David Lyle Carpenter, 71, of Camden, MI, passed away February 26, 2026, He was Born March 19, 1954, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Hubert "Red" and Betty Carpenter.

David lived a life centered on family. His early years were spent growing up in Bronson, Michigan. Soon his little sister Candy joined the family. After losing his father when he was 11 years old, his mother, sister, grandmother and David moved back to Fort Wayne.

In 1977 he joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged after his service and then attended Control Data Institute in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating he returned to Fort Wayne where he began his career with IBM. He spent his career working in the computer industry retiring in 2012.

Dave was very much a family man, and the values he built his career on - hard work, dedication, and integrity - were the same ones he brought home each day. He married his wife Jamee in 1983 and in 1987 they added a son Anthony (Tony) to their family. Dave was a kind man who was always there with love, advice, support, and wisdom - a true mentor to his son.

David's home reflected his passions - shelves lined with carefully curated comic books and the timeless sounds of classic rock filling the air. Whether he was adding to his collection or listening to the music of the '60s and '70s, these were the things that brought a smile to his face and peace to his heart. Throughout his life, he was never without a beloved dog at his side - from Bucky, Mickey, Goldie, Sam, and LadyBird, to his beloved Koko, each one a cherished member of his family.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jamee, and son Tony (Jen) and granddaughter Alex. Also surviving him are his sister Candy MacDonald; sisters-in-law Joncee Bennett, Debra Bauer, and Amanda Brandt; and brother-in-law Len (Donna) Coahran; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert "Red" Carpenter, his mother, Betty Carpenter, grandparents, Lloyd and Marie Homrighouse and brother-in-law Troy Bennett.

Dave was a good man who lived a great life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. No services are planned at this time
