David King Obituary
Mike graduated from Springfield Township High School in Mongo in 1961 before joining the Army and serving his country in Korea. Over the years, he dedicated his time to being the best husband to his wife, father to his children and supportive friend to all that he could be. There wasn't a home project he wouldn't tackle, and he didn't know how to say no to someone in need. He never missed a birthday, anniversary or holiday with a card or call and made everyone feel important as only he could.
Mike is survived by his 5 children: Michael (Shannon) Hardiek, Ryan (Amanda) King, Marcus (Amy) Hardiek, Heather (Mark) Hiple and Benjamin Kapp; 8 grandchildren: Brant, Barik, Braydin, Michael, Alex, Ryan, Spencer, Casey and one great-granddaughter, Opal.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Mary King who passed away March 29 of 2024. At Mike's request, there will be no funeral service. However, if there is someone you haven't spoken to in a while, call them and let them know you were thinking about them!

What a great guy! Mike was very helpful to me when I had tree questions or needed our Forestry @ I&M. I worked in Customer Design and always enjoyed talking to him - what a character! He definitely did not let his prosthetic hold him back. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I met Mike at Margo's many years ago and he was the nicest gentleman to me. I got a kick out of him as he always called me Jeanie , not Jean. My deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends. Now he's in Heaven with Mary, and in no pain.
