DEAN AYERS Obituary

DEAN L. AYERS, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He had lived in Churu busco since 1946, and retired in 1981 from Fruehauf Trailer Corporation after 39 years. A member of Churubusco United Methodist Church, he enjoyed bowling, swimming, playing golf, and traveling. Surviving are his wife, Louella (Burnsworth) Ayers; children, Cheryl (Gene) Toombs of Charlotte, N.C., Dawn (Ed) Ladig of Churubusco, and David (Betsy) Ayers of West Lafayette; step-children, Terry (Karlin) Shively of Whitehouse, Ohio, Ted (Terri) Shively of Churubusco, Darlene Clevenger of Fort Wayne and Katie Guthrie of Angola; step-daughter-in-law, Ilze Shively of Suncook, N.H.; brother, Bruce Ayers of Gary; sisters-in-law, Thelma Prible Strait of Warren and Peggy Ayers of Bluffton; 22 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Proble) Ayers, in 1966; parents, Arthur and Carrie Ayers; son, Kent Dean Ayers; stepson, William Shively; and brother, Bob Ayers. Service is 11 a.m. Monday in Churubusco United Methodist Church, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Corinne K. Boruff officiating. Calling also from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco. Burial in Eel River Cemetery south of Churubusco.
