DONNA PAULINE ROSS

DONNA PAULINE (HUMBARGER) ROSS, 86, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born Dec. 15, 1926, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of Gerald T. and Lucille (Schrader) Humbarger. Donna graduated from North Side High School in 1944 and Parkview School of Nursing in 1948. She worked as a RN at Parkview Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1989. She also served as a crossing guard at Riverside Elementary; as a leader in cub scouts, brownies and girl scouts when her children were young; then as a preschool teacher "Miss Donna" at Crescent Avenue Church. After retiring from Parkview, she worked as a veterinary surgical assistant with Corner Veterinary Clinic. She also volunteered with Study Connection, Food Pantry, Matthew 25, and Sunday school at Crescent Avenue Church. She loved traveling, gardening, reading, playing euchre, and spending time with family. She was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church. Donna is survived by sons, David (Stephanie) and Richard (Lori) Ross; daughters, Barbara (Rev. Michael) Harris and Diane (Philip) Baker; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Stier. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith B. Ross; and sisters, Dorothy Ann Cox and Nancy Mason. A Celebration of Life service is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Waynedale United Methodist Church, 2501 Church St., Waynedale, with calling from 9 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wayndale UMC or the League for the Blind.
