Eleanor Stureman Obituary

This obituary is being republished to provide corrected information. ELEANOR B. STUREMAN, 85, of rural Kimmell, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at Provina Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, where she had been a patient since Sept. 8, 2005. She was a homemaker and as a young lady had worked for G. C. Murphy's, in downtown Fort Wayne, the General Electric Co. and Magnavox Company, both in Fort Wayne. But her love was baking Cherry and Butterscotch pies for her family or teaching Sunday school for four and five year olds at Merriam Christian Chapel and later at the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member. She was also a devotional leader of the Green Township Devotional Club. Born Sept. 21, 1920, in Churubusco, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Orpha Almeda (Fleck) McBride. She graduated from Churubusco High School with the class of 1938 and later was united in marriage to Guy B. Stureman. He passed away Oct. 25, 1999. Survivors include a son, Philip L. (wife, Olene) Stureman of Kimmell; daughter, Mary (husband, Jim) McClain of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Glenn, Ray, Orvil, Spurgeon and Donald; and a sister, Opal. Service is 11 a.m. today at Sheets &. Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco, with Pastor Paul D. White officiating. The family received friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to the Churubusco Nazarene Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
