Gene Lapsley Obituary

GENE A. LAPSLEY, 56, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at the VA Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After moving to Fort Wayne, in 1992, he worked for FWCS and was a carpenter. Survivors are his wife, Sybredia Lapsley of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Tyrena (Robert) Davis of Fort Wayne; sons, Airen Lapsley of St. Louis, Mo., Lorenza (Shelley) Lapsley, Gene Jr. and Senaca Lapsley, all of Fort Wayne; his mother, Eula L. Pinkston of Fort Wayne; sisters, Earnestine Wright of St. Louis, Vinest (James) Jackson of Fort Wayne, Pearlie (Charles) Billingslea of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Roy Lapsley of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Lapsley. Service is noon Saturday at Lighthouse Deliverance Cathedral, 1315 S. Hanna St., with calling one hour before service. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home.
