Georgeann Schnurr Obituary

Georgeann Schnurr, 94, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 8, 2024, of Fort Wayne and later of Bremen, at Grace Village.

Born on December 27, 1929, in Kewanna, IN to George and Anna Shanley, Georgeann's legacy is woven with threads of love and dedication. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne. On July 8, 1950, she married the love of her life Jerry Schnurr and spent 42 years together until his passing in 1992. Then, in 1994, Georgeann was married to Jesse Keith until his passing in 2017.

As a devoted mother, she gracefully raised ten children with unwavering care and affection. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family as she dedicated herself to working in Patient Accounts at Lutheran Hospital.

A woman of many talents and passions, Georgeann immersed herself in various endeavors that brought her joy. She cherished her role as the family historian, delving into genealogy to uncover the roots of her loved ones. Her creative flair shone through in her pursuits of arts and crafts - from sewing intricate patterns to creating beautiful knits and paintings. Those who had the pleasure of tasting her dishes knew her as a wonderful cook whose culinary creations brought people together.

In matters of faith, Georgeann found solace in St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Bremen and later in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw.

Those who cherish Georgeann's memory include her children: Jean Wagner, Geriann (Bill) Wohead, Barbara (Charles) Schramm, Susie Schnurr, Steve Schnurr, Lawrence (Lora) Schnurr, Mary (Skip) Fanning, Marty (Todd) Zeltwanger; daughters-in-law: Kathy Schnurr and Kaye Schnurr; Jesse's daughters: Janet (Bob) Laffey, Kathie (Bruce) Seal, Mary (Randy) Hively, Barbara (Joe) Greisinger, Lois (Salvador) Flores, and Julie (Jim) Smies; and special daughter #7, Deidre Kuhn. She is further survived by 33 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; siblings: Bill Shanley and Tom (Linda) Shanley; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to Jerry Schnurr and Jesse Keith, Georgeann was preceded in death by her sons: Michael and Thomas Schnurr; sons-in-law: Donald Brown and Mark Wagner; Jesse's children: Dave and Patty Keith; and siblings: Mary Shanley, John Shanley, and Joellen Krasienko.

To the Schnurr family,
I´m so very sorry to learn of the loss of your mother. Georgie and I go way back when we worked together many years at Lutheran Hospital on Fairfield. The last couple of years, I was able to visit with her a few times. We talked and laughed about many wonderful memories we had. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
In loving memory of a wonderful and dear friend. Cathy (Scheele) Long

Larry, Lora, and family -- We were so sorry to learn of your mom's passing. Although it is the natural order of our lives to bid our parents good-bye, it is never easy. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of Jesus. Fondly, Steve & Deb Todd
