Herman Franz Obituary

HERMAN L. FRANZ JR., 86, of Decatur, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, 7:13 p.m., at Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. He had been in failing health and a resident of Woodcrest prior to his death. He married B. Aileen Rolape on Nov. 22, 1975, in Decatur; she survives. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a farmer and livestock dealer. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling where he served as a trustee, a deacon, and was a longtime member of the church choir. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 43, Decatur. Surviving are his wife, Aileen Franz of Decatur; five stepsons; three stepdaughters; and sisters, Ella (Paul) Switzer of Fort Wayne and Vera Witte of Corunna, Mich. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Elmer and Walter Franz. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Adams Post 43 Color Guard.
