HOWARD H. GANE

HOWARD H. GANE, 83, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017. Born Oct. 6, 1933, in Flint, Mich., he was the son of Howard and Eva (Wol verton) Gane. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. Howard married Linda Ledwidge on June 15, 1968. He owned a flight instruction business in Flint and worked for various airlines through out his career. He retired from the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources in 1990 as the Chief Pilot. Surviving are his wife, Linda Gane of Fort Wayne; three children, Douglas Gane (fianc‚e, Rebekka) of Essexville, Mich., Eva (Peter) Pagett of Morton Grove, Ill. and Francine (Scott) Liebhauser of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, Kylie (Shane) Gearhart, Ashley Pagett, Anne Pagett, Joshua (Rhachel) Liebhauser, Jacob Liebhauser, Haley Pagett, Thomas Pagett, and Logan Gane; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mahlon (Janine) Gane of Port Townsend, Wash. and Walter (Rosalie) Gane of Swartz Creek, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers; parents; brother, Donald Gane; brother-in-law, Richard Ledwidge; and many aunts and uncles. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Mich., with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will follow service at Flint Memorial Park.
