JAMES CHASE Obituary

JAMES ALLAN CHASE, 91, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, after a decade long battle with Alz heimer's disease. Upon enlisting in the Navy, Jim became a Navy Corpsman. He then attended college at DePauw University and then on to medical school at Indiana University. After setting up a family practice for several years in Ligonier, Ind., Jim moved his family to Fort Wayne to begin a career with General Electric, where he eventually became the National Medical Director. Jim retired and lived in Asheville, N.C. and then in Augusta, Ga., before returning to Fort Wayne. Besides being a dedicated doctor, who loved his nurses, Jim enjoyed sailing, golf and the joy of singing. "Jim" or "Grandpa Doc", loved his grandchildren and the time spent with them through the years. He is survived by his loving partner, Judy; first wife, Gwendolyn; three children, Jed, Theodore and Cathryn; and four grandchildren, William, Jessica, Jackson, and Grace. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Melvin Chase and Clarice Volberg Chase; wife, Mary Pat; and three siblings, Thomas, Jerry and Lane. A life celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Indiana University Anatomical Education Program.
