JAMES "SATCH" CRAWFORD JR., 73, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, in Fort Wayne. Born in Grindstone, Pa., he retired in 1998 as the Captain of Internal Affairs with Fort Wayne Police Department after serving the city for 25 years. He attended IPFW and was a member of Fraternal Order of Police and Fellowship Missionary Church. Surviving are his wife, Rosalie Crawford of Fort Wayne; children, James (Karen) Crawford III of Spencerville, Gordon (Toni) Crawford of Louisville, Ky., Nathanial (Catherine) Crawford of Fort Wayne, Ethan Birch of Columbia City, and Candice (Charles) Hall of Fort Wayne; stepdaughters, Denise (Warren) Scarbrough of Mississippi and Dyan Brittain of Fort Wayne; stepson, Robert (Megan) Weddell of Fort Wayne; 28 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Eleanor (Kenneth) Williamson of Warren, Ohio, Carmaine Rice and Alexine Evans, both of Meadville, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and five sisters. At Jim's request there will be no viewing, visitation or services.
