JEFFREY L. "JEFF" HAWK

JEFFREY "JEFF" L. HAWK, 77, of Greentown, formerly of Swayzee and Fort Wayne, went to be with Jesus on Monday, July 5, 2021, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Massillon, Ohio, on March 30, 1944. On May 27, 1978, he married Diane Bittner. After graduation from high school, Jeff enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam. During his enlistment, he earned a Bronze Star medal for his meritorious service. After an honorable discharge from the military, he attended and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in accounting. Jeff was employed by Central Soya and United Technologies, self-employed for 10 years at Hawk's Nest Antiques, followed by employment at Prentice Products and John Deere Landscapes during his adult life. Jeff was a member of Converse Church of Christ and was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. He was also a very strong prayer warrior. Jeff had a passion for children and served God by volunteering his services in many children's ministries at church. Another ministry of his was being a regular platelet donor at the American Red Cross for 19 years and a 10-gallon blood donor prior to that. He was also a volunteer driver for the DAV, transporting veterans to and from appointments. He had a heart of service to others. Jeff was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandpa. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane; children, Andrew (Carmen) Hawk of Fountaintown and Laura (Brad) Fruth of Amboy; grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail and Graham Hawk, Isabel, Ruby, Evelyn, and Ina Fruth; brother, Kevin Hawk of Converse; and sister, Kerry (Dan) DeWolf of McDonough, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Hawk. A service to celebrate Jeff's life is noon Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Converse Church of Christ, 301 E. Wabash St., Converse, Ind., with visitation one hour prior. The family will also receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021, at the church. Pastor John Clark will be officiating. Burial at Marion National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Converse Church of Christ, specifically to the Samaritan Room or Kids Hope.
