John James "Jamie" Carter

John Carter Obituary

JOHN JAMES "JAMIE" CARTER, formerly of Fort Wayne, left this earth Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Redding, Calif., to begin his next journey. All those who knew Jamie will always remember his beautiful smile, his gentle heart and his absolutely wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed terribly by those of us who dearly loved him. We will try to find comfort and strength knowing he's in a better place, that he's at peace and safe in the presence of God. During this last year of his life, he worked in housekeeping for a long-term care facility. His kind and gentle soul was evident by the way he whole-heartedly went out of his way to do things, for the residents of the home, to help improve their quality of life. He shared a close and special relationship with his nephew, Bryan, who unselfishly loved and gave to him to make his world a better place. He is survived by three children, Joshua Carter, John Carter II and Jessica Carter, all of Fort Wayne; father, Ronald Carter of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Angela Marshall of Hamilton, Mont., Stephanie Carter of Redding, Calif. and Carrie Hambleton of Huntington; nephews, Bryan Carter of Redding, Jason Baugher and Brandon Austin, both of Fort Wayne, Daniel Marshal of Montana and Vincent Carter of Ohio; and niece, Samantha Carter of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Carter; two brothers, Ron Jr. and Vincent Carter; and sister, Kim Carter. Stephanie and Bryan will accompany Jamie home to his final resting place at the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Burial will take place privately among family members. If you wish to send a memorial, please do so for the children of Jamie c/o Joanne Schindler, 4615 Richfield Lane, Fort Wayne, IN 46816. "We will always love you Jamie."

Jamie was my father, and although I didn't get to see him everyday or as much as I would have liked to I know he loved me. I know he cared for me, and even today, he still loves and cares for me. He is a part of me forever, and I will never forget him. I'll always be his "baby girl." I love you, always.
