JOSHUA SEFTON Obituary

JOSHUA T. SEFTON, 30, of Decatur, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, after suffering cardiac arrest on a job site in Kosciusko County. Born in Decatur, Ind. on June 21, 1991, Josh was a son of Patrick and Susan (Walters) Seftonof Decatur, who survive. He attended Bellmont High School where he played football and baseball; he was a member of the football team that won the State Championship in 2008 and was named first-team outfield All-State baseball in 2010. Josh attended college at Indiana University where he played baseball and later attended Hocking College where he earned a degree in Wildlife Management. Josh was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and had a passion for the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. Also an avid sports enthusiast, he was a fan of Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts football and Chicago Cubs baseball. Josh was also a talented and accomplished woodworker; he designed and crafted numerous beautiful dining room tables and accessories. He was employed at Varment Guard Wildlife Services and Briner Building, Inc. Josh was devoted to his son, his family and his friends. He was creative and talented; he possessed a sense of decency and loyalty and a desire to always try to do the right thing; he had a good heart and will be missed immensely. He is survived by his beloved son, Gabriel Sefton; and Gabe's mother, Alexis (Brady) Butler. Also surviving Josh are his brothers, Luke Sefton of Decatur, John Sefton of Indianapolis; his grandmother, Sharon Walters of Decatur; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Peg Sefton and Robert Walters. A Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 414 W. Madison St., Decatur. Father David Ruppert celebrating the Mass. The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, 225 W. Adams St., Decatur, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 1 p.m. Interment will follow service in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur.
