Larry Everson Obituary

LARRY EDWARD EVERSON, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 22, 1939, in Beloit, Wis., he was the son of Lawrence and Inez Everson. On June 24, 1961, he was united in marriage for 46 happy years to his college sweetheart, Lois Jensen. He was a respected and dedicated JC Penney Manager for 43 years. His job brought him and his family to many different homes in Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Along the way, he made many dear friendships. His passions in life were gathering with family and friends, entertaining at his home, serving the church, visiting and helping family and friends in need, traveling, canoeing, camping, fishing, boating, exploring his Norwegian heritage, and Badger basketball games. He always had fond memories of annual camping trips to Ely, Minn. and family gatherings at Cheese Days. During retirement, he and Lois were able to take memorable trips to Norway, Poland, Italy, Belgium, New Zealand, and Australia. Most importantly, he was able to spend his time being a grandfather to his 10 precious grandchildren. They all looked forward to spending time with grandpa on Rock Lake. He is survived by his wife, best friend and soulmate, Lois; sons, Chris (Deanne) Everson, Kaci, Luke and David (Jill) Everson, Erin, Scott and Jonathan (Tara) Everson, Eli, Caleb, Jonah; and daughter, Kari (John) Barrett, John, Daniel, Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Kirsten and Sonja. Funeral service is noon Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Skogen Road, Cambridge, with visitation two hours prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to Grace Lutheran Church, The Salvation Army, or The Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. Arrangements by Claussen Funeral Home, Lake Mills, Wis.
