LAWRENCE W. ZEHRUNG

LAWRENCE W. ZEHRUNG, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July 28, 2017. Lawrence graduated from New Haven High School in 1948. He worked in the accounting and computer departments of Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire for 36 years, except for two years when he served in the Korean War in Seoul, Korea, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was also the president of the Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Federal Credit Union for over twenty-five years. He went on to serve the Indiana Credit Union League for six years, was Chairman 1990 to 1992 and went several times to Washington, D.C. to lobby for credit union legislation. He was a longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golf, bowling and he was an avid IU basketball fan. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Lisa (Zehrung) Wagner of Eaton, Ohio; son-in-law, Robert Wagner; grandchildren, Chelsea (Wagner) Sallese and Haley Wagner; son, Eric (Virginia) Zehrung; stepson, David Kerschner; daughter-in-law, Debi (Batscher) Kerschner; grandchildren, Collin Kerschner, Zachary Kerschner; and great-grandchildren, Juniper and Alani; stepdaughter, Terry (Kerschner) Nagel; son-in-law, Larry Nagel; grandchildren Janie (Nagel) Dalrymple, (Arizona), Christian Nagel; and great-grandchild, Paislee, (Tampa); Lawrence is also survived by his sister, Ruth (Zehrung) Witte and her two sons, Steven and Jerry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Zehrung of Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley, 1320 Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, (IN 46825), with calling one hour prior. Visitation also from 5 to 8 p.m Monday, July 31, 2017, also at the funeral home. Burial will take in Concordia Cemetery Gardens Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the ALS foundation.
