M. CHARLES ECKHART

M. CHARLES ECKHART, 71, of Decatur, Ind., passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at Adams Memorial Hospital. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on Sept. 8, 1951, he was the son of Ivan C. and Jessie (Cousino) Eckhart. On Feb. 14, 1970, he married Susan K. Gerber. He graduated from Adams Central School, Class of 1969, worked for Central Soya for 25 years and retired in 1995. Charles then started Eckhart Woodworking and became the owner of S & M Wood Products since 2000. Charles was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Eckhart of Decatur; a son, Douglas (Juli Paini) Eckhart of Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany; two daughters, Julie Liston of Maize, Kan., and Carole Hostetter of Hoover, Ala.; two brothers; six sisters; seven grandchildren, Alex and Nathan Eckhart, Paige, Abigail Liston, Cayla (Dan) Johnson, Clayton (Hannah) Hostetter, and Caden Hostetter; and four great-grandchildren, Anna, Madelyn and Charlotte Johnson and Ellory Hostetter. Charles was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with a visitation two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Parish Hall. Father Lee Allen Fortin will be presiding. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
