MARY FEICHTER Obituary

MARY "MAUREEN" McBRIDE FEICHTER, 86, went to be with her Lord on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Monroe Hospital, Bloomington, Ind., after a determined Irish fight of many illnesses. Born Feb. 11, 1925, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, she was a daughter of the late David and Sarah (Douglas) McBride. Her father worked in the shipyards and was a carpenter on the Titanic. She was a courageous, beautiful young woman who traveled to America when she was only 22 years old to find a better life. She met a dashing man and married Frank Feichter three months later. They were married 52 years, until his passing on Dec. 8, 2005. She was known as a wonderful cook and retired from the Fort Wayne Community Schools in that capacity. Her potato pie and boiled fruit dumpling were her signature recipes. She loved to talk about her country to others and she visited there several times. She and her four sisters were photographed by the local newspaper during a visit. "The family wishes to thank Dr. Devane and the nurses at the wound center and Sherri at Monroe Hospital and PCU." She had five children in six and a half years, they all survive, Gloria (Ron) Beatty of Spencer, Ind., Sarah (Donald) Stevenson of Lima, Ohio, Cheryl (John) Ritzman of Northglenn, Colo., Lynn (Tom) Baker of Hickory, N.C., and Frank (Lisa) Feichter of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Eddie (Judy) Getts of Bloomington, Tricia (Matt) Hogan of Greenwood, Ind., Seth Reinhart of North Carolina, Cherylyn (William) Riley, Jenny (Tim) McPherson, and William (Kari) Long, all of Lima, Ohio, Tasha (Norm) Ruger of Columbus, Ohio, Kiera (Kai) Knox of Colorado Springs, Colo., Scott Feichter of Fort Wayne, and Ryan Feichter of Indianapolis, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Emilie, Gabrielle, Luke, Sage, Abe, Oliva, Sam, Ben, Tevin, Aries, Madison, Isabella, Ali, Jadyn, Tricia, and Danny; brothers, John McBride of Fort Wayne and Douglas (Etta) McBride of Tennessee; and sister, Phemie Smylie of Ireland. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Peggy, Elizabeth and Annie; brothers, David, Sammy and Corbett; and grandson, Ben. Private funeral service. Interment in Chambersville Cemetery.
