Dear Linda & Bruce:
My deepest sympathy to both of you. No one can know the depth of your loss, unless one has experienced this loss. Having known you when Matthew was placed in you loving care, and missing the time we spent together, I only wish I could give you a warm and loving hug to let you know that you are supported by many who know and care for you.
Our prayers are with you and all of your family. May you find peace and healing.

My friend Matthew will always and forever have a place in my heart. I wanted to try and let you know how special he is to me. I thought that a list of some of my favorite things about him would help me express this. Thank you so much for sharing your son with me.
He had an ingenious use of words like ingenious.
He gave me big hugs that could lift me up even when my feet never left the floor.
His stories came to life when he animated his characters and their adventures for his audience.
His inventions were the things of a Purdue engineer’s dreams.
He could melt away the cloud of a bad day by taking my hand in his and saying hello.
His eyes were so clear and bright I could almost see his next idea in the making.
One of his challenges was also one of his greatest gifts. He couldn’t hide his heart. We all learned a bit more about the importance of showing others how much we care.
His smile and enthusiasm were so contagious and, thankfully, without a cure.
The world is a significantly better place and we are better people for having Matthew in our lives. He will always be in my heart and can be found in those moments when I smile for no apparent reason.
