PATRICIA L. OWEN

PATRICIA L. (TURNER-KURTZ) OWEN, 81, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, following a brief illness. Patricia was born Jan. 6, 1934, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Lura Pond and Quentin Turner, who preceded her in death. A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, she graduated from North Side High School in 1952. Her 26 year marriage to Andy Kurtz gave her four children, whom she dearly loved and who will miss her greatly. She later married Peter Owen, who preceded her in death. Celebrating 41 years of sobriety, Patricia dedicated her professional career to helping others in that endeavor. She touched many lives, giving hope and guidance to countless people through her many affiliations, including Parkview Hospital, Huntington Center and most recently as the director of the Washington House. Patricia was a very strong and courageous woman throughout her life and especially as she endured many health challenges in recent years. Even in these challenges she focused her thoughts, prayers and love on her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. She was our calm in a storm and our touchstone, and the lessons she taught will be with all of us forever. She was certain that she was going to be with our Heavenly Father where she will watch over all of us until we are together again. She is survived by her four beloved children, Steven (LuAnn) Kurtz, Gregg Kurtz, Michael (Laura) Kurtz and Kristie Kurtz Ohlson; grandchildren, Jared (Molly) Kurtz, Holly (Travis) Hemsoth, Brian Kurtz, Anthony Kurtz, Amanda Kurtz, Nathan Ohlson, John Ohlson, Andrew Kurtz and George Ohlson; and many great-grandchildren here and yet to come. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Russell Ohlson. "Special thanks to all who tenderly cared for her in recent years, especially Alena and Danielle." Memorial service is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 E. Tillman Road, Fort Wayne. Entrance is through door C.
