1929 - 2022

ROBERT E. JEFFERIES, 92, of Fort Wayne, died Monday, March 7, 2022. Born July 29, 1929, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Richard and Helen (Hoffman) Jefferies. Robert graduated from Central High School and completed two years of college before leaving to join the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. In 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Mayers, and they were married for 61 years before her passing in March of 2012. After working as an office executive, he then went on to become the Supervisor of the Pro Shop at Key Lanes Bowling Alley for six years before retiring in 1995. He was a proud Past Commander of American Legion Post 47. He is survived by his children, Steven E. (Becky) Jefferies of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Denise L. (Michael) Bordner of Bluffton, Ind., David A. (Victoria) Jefferies of Wolcottville, Ind., Daniel M. (Shari) Jefferies of Fort Wayne, Cheryl L. (Doug) Hawk of Germantown, Md., and Curtis D. (Pamela) Jefferies of Wawaka, Ind.; 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Gene Jefferies; sister, Sharon Miller; grandson, Nathan Hawk; granddaughter, Patricia Lucia Jefferies; and a great-grandson, Austin Baller. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne.
