Robert Phillips Obituary

ROBERT A. PHILLIPS, 87, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at his residence in Fort Wayne. He was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Clint-wood, Va., the son of Marvin Phillips and Alice May (Mullins) Phillips. He married Ora Jean (Kelly) Phillips, Oct. 23, 1943, in Palestine, Texas; she preceded him in death Feb. 12, 2003. Survivors include daughters, Sarah J. Childers of Fort Wayne, Doris J. Martinez of Columbia City, Nancy G. Wittekind of Anderson, and Rita M. Phillips of Fort Wayne; two sons, Craig C. Phillips of Fort Wayne and Robert A. Phillips of Melvin, Ill.; a brother, Claude Phillips of Clintwood, Va.; a sister, Daphinia Fink of Baltimore, Md.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. He had been an inspector for General Electric in Fort Wayne for 33 years, retiring in 1979. He was a World War II Army veteran. Service is 3 p.m. Friday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, with Father Rick Leone conducting the service. Visitation is from 1 p.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to Carriage House, 3327 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
