Rob had me as a guest speaker into his classroom at Holland school for Veterans Day on a few occasions. I am a Vietnam Veteran. He and his students made me feel as though I was a hero. Rob taught with my wife, Teresa. Teresa admired Rob for his unusual expertise in teaching and his classroom control. Rob quickly became my friend. When in his room I could never tell whether he acted more interested in my presentation or the children did. He had that unusual trait about him that so few people display. He looked through you with intensity when you spoke to him with 100% attention to every word. In my mind, Rob was the true hero. His students loved him and so did the staff with whom he worked. We will all miss you. I will see you, Rob. Save me a spot.

So sorry to hear about your loss, Mr.Thorn was a wonderful person, how lucky you are to have had him in your lives. He was my favorite teacher at Holland. He always made jokes and made class so much fun. I looked up to him, because he was always so kind and loving. He made me feel special because I'm adopted and we had discussions about adoption, and how it is such a great thing. We also had family members with autism in common, he always took his time to talk to me about his life and asked questions about my life. He always joked with me about how he would never be able to get my name right, and that i didn't really look like a Suzanna. I have such fond memories of Mr.Thorn. Although fourth grade was a long time ago, i am going to miss him. I will look forward to seeing him again, in the presence of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
I pray for blessings and peace for your family at this time.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family. Rob was one of my hardest working and courageous students at BJHS. His faith was evident and a strong witness to those who knew him. Even during this difficult time I'm sure it is a comfort to know he is with His Lord now. May you each know His peace, comfort and strength at this time.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I only knew Rod for a short time and worked with him at Holland as an assistant, but he was kind, joyful, earnest and dedicated. Miss Mikenna, I am so sorry that you have to endure this. I know your daddy loved you and your brother like crazy! I will be praying especially for you sweet girl.
