Rolland Thompson Obituary
Rolland was born June 20, 1944, to the late James K And Anna Bernice (Hyde) Thompson in Londonderry. Rolland was a graduate of Madison High School class of 1962. He played on the Madison Eagles basketball team. He served in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1965-1971. Butch was employed as a welder at Cambridge Machine and OH River Collieries Co., Bannock. He then retired as a groundskeeper in 2008 from Guernsey County Job and Family Services.
He loved his family, especially when he took his grandchildren and great- grandchildren for rides on his tractor. He had a love of Wheelhorse Tractors. Butch enjoyed welding in his garage for family and friends. He was a member of Londonderry United Methodist Church.
Along with his parents, Rolland is preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Thompson and Dean Thompson, sister- in- law, Ruth Ann Thompson, and great nephew Jordan Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Ann (Roe) Thompson, whom he married on July 30, 1966, two daughters Carol Jean (& Randy) Fabian of Cambridge and Sherry Ann (& Kevin) Watson of Cumberland, his grandchildren, Brandi (& Matt Scurlock) Fabian, Kevin Michael (& Sara) Arnold Sr., Shelby (& Kyle Cosgrave) Fabian, Kristen (& Tyler) Dowling) and Kelsey (& Josh Marquis) Watson and great grandchildren, Braxton Stilwell, Braylee Pethtel, Whyatt Dowling, Kevin "KJ" Arnold, Langston Cosgrave, Forrest Arnold, Qwentyn Marquis, Brinley Scurlock and two more on the way. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 10AM to 12PM at Thorn- Black Funeral Home in Cambridge, where the service will begin at 12PM. Pastor Perry Baranich will officiate. Burial will follow at Salesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Butch's honor may be sent to Antrim Community VFD c/o Treasurer, 20217 Cadiz Rd, Freeport, OH 43973.
