Ronald Bonar Obituary

Ronald Lee "Ron" Bonar, 87, of Mesa, AZ, passed away on June 24, 2025, Ronald L. (RON) Bonar was born on November 8, 1937 in Warren, Ohio to Alvin and Floy (Butler) Bonar. In 1955 he attended Indiana Technical College and earned his degree in Civil Engineering. He met Carol Romary, was married in 1958 and started his family and Engineering career at the same time. He was a member of the Indiana Air National Guard. After serving with the USAF in France he returned to the City Engineering Department in Fort Wayne where he served 15 years and 7 years as City Engineer. He was a member of the Board of Public Works, City Planning Commission and the City-County Building Department. In 2000, Governor Frank O'Bannon honored him as a member of the Council of the Sagamore of the Wabash. He founded the Bonar Group and was President for 24 years as the firm grew to over 80 employees with 4 Indiana offices. He transferred ownership of Bonar Group to his employees in 2000. Ron was a member of Unity Fort Wayne Spiritual Center and served on the Board for 25 years and 9 years on the Board of Unity World Headquarters at Unity Village in Missouri. In 1989 at Unity he met Mary and they were married. Preceded in death was his wife Mary Kay Bonar, 2022. Surviving are his children Michael (Kristin) Bonar of Mesa, AZ, Cheryl (Gary) Laski of Fairfield, CA, Douglas (Kelly) Bonar of Noblesville, IN. His son, Stephen preceded him in death. Other survivors are his Grandchildren Ashley Friddle, Tyler (Corrina) Bonar, Dustin (Triana) Bonar, Travis (Kendall) Bonar, Mitchal Bonar, Rachel Laski, Victoria Bonar, Gary Laski Jr. and Bethany Bonar. As well as his Great-Grandchildren Dylan Perino, Connor Perino, Jenisis Ebel, Ryleigh Bonar, Jackson Bonar, Evan Bonar and Emma Bonar and in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were his three brothers and their spouses, Clyde (Julie) Bonar, Dale (Kitty) Bonar and Garth (Helen) Bonar. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on October 11, 2025, at the Unity Spiritual Center, 3232 Crescent Ave, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Mr. Bonar worked with my father Coleridge Brewer Sr. at the City of Fort Wayne. He always spoke kindly of Mr. Bonar and my family and I are deeply saddened by his passing. May God bless his family
