RONALD FLICKINGER Obituary

RONALD WARD FLICKINGER, 78, of Fort Wayne, loving husband and father of two, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home Southwest. Born on Nov. 25, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio, Ron was a son of the late Dan and Mary Jo Helen (Rosenberger) Flickinger. He graduated from South Side High School in 1960 and Heidelberg College in 1964, where he was a member of the Excelsior Men's Society. He earned an MBA from Indiana University in 1966. On Oct. 1, 1966, he married Karen Ann (Kiesling) Flickinger of Logansport. They raised two sons, Ron and John. Ron served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked primarily in the Medical Service Corps. He attained the rank of Captain and was honorably discharged in 1970. After his discharge, Ron joined his father and mother to help run the family business, Flickinger Industries, Inc., manufacturing pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders for automation. Over the succeeding years, he grew the company from a startup to a successful manufacturing enterprise. Ron had a passion for travel. He and his family visited many beautiful places both in the U.S. and abroad. He was an avid golfer and played many famous courses around the world. He was also a fan of IU basketball. In later years, he developed an enthusiasm for fine cigars and reading ebooks, especially spy novels. Ron was known for his kindness and generosity. He and Karen helped start and build The Canterbury School and Christ Our Treasure Fellowship. He is survived by his wife, Karen; their two children, Ron and John (Jennifer); his sister, Ann (Al); his brother, Dan (Gayle); his sister-in-law, Connie; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. I've known Ron since he came into the business, and Joanne knows him since we married in 1971.

I plumbed their home on Blue Mist, and serviced all their residences since including one in Arizona.

As Christians, we can look forward to seeing each other again soon in heaven.
