Ruby Thorn Obituary

Ruby Frances (Martin) Thorn, of Leesburg, IN, passed away October 31, 2023, She was born in Nashville, TN, on March 15th, 1943 to Ernest and Martha Martin. She moved to Fort Wayne at an early age. Ruby graduated from South Side Highschool in 1961. Upon graduation she began work as a legal secretary. In later years she worked retail at L.S. Ayres where she was known for her smile. She also worked as a Title 1 instructor at Huntertown School and later as a school secretary.

Ruby was able to retire to her dream home on Lake Tippecanoe, where she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Sam Thorn; daughter, Jody (Jim) Garrison; son, Jason Matthias; daughter, Jamie (Brandon) Gordon; stepson, Zach (Maggie) Thorn; grandchildren, Zoe Garrison, Tony Gordon, Drew Gordon, Milo Cummins, Dryzten Thorn; great-grandchildren, Maverick Gordon, and Marleigh Gordon.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm on Sunday November 5th 2023, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials in Ruby's honor may be directed to The Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation.
