RUSSELL BOND Jr.

RUSSELL BOND JR., 80, of Witmer Lake and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange. Born in Bellmore, Ind. on Oct. 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Russell and Ruth (Basinger) Bond. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1956. He then graduated from Indiana Business College in 1958. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He married Karen K. Miller on May 15, 1960 in Lafayette, Ind. She resides at Witmer Lake. Russell worked as the manager of the men's clothing department at the L.S. Ayres Department Store in Fort Wayne for 13 years. Russell was also a State Farm Insurance agent for many years in Fort Wayne retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Fort Wayne Lions Club, former deacon with the Memorial Baptist Church in Fort Wayne and served as the president of the Big Orange Parents at Northrop High School. Everyone enjoyed his witty and quick sense of humor and his jokes. He loved to spend time with his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law who will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Karen Bond of Witmer Lake; son and daughter-in-law, Ryan (Cheryl) Bond of Witmer Lake, daughter and daughter-in-law, Khrisann (Cindy Rogers) Bond of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandchildren and their spouses H.T. (Grace) Chong and Tyler (Emma) Bond; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Chong and Evan Chong. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Bond. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
