Ruth Cole Obituary

Ruth A. (Keltsch) Cole, 94, died October 14, 2024, with two nieces by her side.

The daughter and sister of pharmacists, Ruth was a research scientist at Parke Davis Co., and University of California, Los Angeles. For decades, she led a vibrant life in southern California. But always, her heart belonged to Crooked Lake and her family.

Ruth was born in Fort Wayne in 1930 to Carl and Ida (Volkening) Keltsch. She excelled at North Side and earned a B.S. in chemistry in 1952 at Purdue University where she was in Mortar Board and president of Student Union and Alpha Xi Delta.

Witty and vivacious, she was undaunted by aging and went skydiving at age 80.

Surviving are nieces and nephews Cheryl (Ron) Daseler, Bruce Franke, Dean (Janet) Franke and Stanley Franke; Steve (Ann) Keltsch, Karen (Bob) Jones and Susan (Rod) Hoffman; Sara (Dan Thue) Keltsch, Molly Keltsch and Amanda (Scott) Senger and caregiver Steve Weinberger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sister Mildred (Bob) Franke, brothers Donald and Maurice and nephew Richard (Jennie) Keltsch.
