Stephen Heckman Obituary

Stephen Paul "Steve" Heckman, 85, of Sunny Isles Beach, passed away on October 1, 2025, The family of Stephen Paul Heckman announces his passing at the age of 85 on October 1, 2025, in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.

Steve was born on December 27, 1939, to Orion Pauldean and Sara Ellen (Studebaker) Heckman in North Manchester, Indiana. His little sister, Kay, arrived in 1949.

After graduating from North Manchester High School, he attended Indiana University. Steve joined the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Second Lieutenant.

In 1963, Steve joined his father at Heckman Bindery. Steve served as President for over four decades.

In 1971 he married Paula Diane Herron, in her hometown of Centerville, Tennessee. They settled on Winona Lake in Warsaw, Indiana, where they raised their sons, James Paul and Dean Stephen.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife Paula Heckman of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida; son Jim Heckman and wife Vicki of Fort Wayne, Indiana, along with their children Carson and Caitlyn; son Dean Heckman of Nashville, Tennessee; sister Kay Heckman Hervey and husband Tom of Carmel, Indiana; sister-in-law Lee Ann Herron of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida; and brother-in-law Jim Herron and wife Jane of Centerville, Tennessee.

Those who knew Steve will remember his sense of humor, his lovable grin, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. He lived life fully and laughed often.

In keeping with Steve's wishes, there will be no formal service. Any memorial donations may be made to North Manchester Center for History, [email protected].
