THOMAS A. WHITNER

THOMAS A. WHITNER, 73, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Parkview Hospital - Randallia. Born in 1949, he was a son of Marian Whitner-Klein and William Hill. He attended Central Catholic High School, before leaving to serve his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. He received 18 other declarations and awards, including three Purple Hearts. He was the owner of TAW Electric and a Lifetime member of the St. Joe Valley Conservation Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Bucher) Whitner; sisters, Margaret Klein, Rita Hendrickson, Alice (Mark) Castleman, and Bernedine Gifford; brother, Robert (Kim) Klein; and grandchildren, Dallas, Destiny and Tyson. He was preceded in death by his mother; a son, Todd; a daughter, Tracy; stepson, Gary Fowler; and brothers, Joseph (Christine) Whitner and James Klein. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour before. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in New Haven.
