VIRGINIA ELAINE (LEMKE) WITZIGREUTER, 97, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021. Born Oct. 5, 1924, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late William and Katherine (Booher) Lemke. Virginia graduated from high school and she worked for GE polishing air intake cones for airplanes during World War II. During the war she met her husband, Calvin "Buck" Witzigreuter. Together they raised three children. Virginia was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed gardening and loved kittens. She would spend hours reading and studying her Bible. Above all, Virginia loved her family. "Though she be but little, she is fierce." ~Shakespeare Virginia will be fondly remembered by her children, Shirley, Carol and Danny; grandchildren, Scott (Marianne), Tammy, Tania, Benjamin, David (Amanda), and Christopher; 12 great- grandchildren, 14 great-great- grandchildren, a niece, and two nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Buck, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Dreifke. Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, with a private funeral service to follow.
