To Lizzie and the Chavis family,

We will all miss Bill's physical presence, but his life gave all that he touched so many good and lasting memories to cherish and remember. May God comfort you and know that Bill was loved respected and lived his life, fully. Bill was a Success.

SUCCESS

“To laugh often, and much: to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a redeemed social condition, or a job well done; to know even one other life has breathed because you lived; this is to have succeeded”

For the Chavis Family, which is also my family.

The God of love and peace

shall be with you...

2 Corinthians 13:11

They say "life goes on"--

just give yourself time

to mourn and accept

and to heal,

Though none of that offers

much comfort right now

with the sorrow and loss

you must feel...

But deep in your heart

if you trust and believe

that memories and love

never cease,

You'll find God is waiting

and wants nothing more

than to offer you

comfort and peace.

May God rap his arms around you all.

It is with deepest sympathy that we offer this message to Liz, the "boys" and the grandchildren. We belive that one has achieved success who has lived fully, laughed often and loved much. Bill certainly met all three of those criteria. Keep his bright smile and his love for you in memory and hold on to God's unchanging hand as you continue your journey in this life.

Dr William "Big Bill" Chavis was one of the true educational leaders in the Fortwayne Community School system. At this time, I share with the Chavis family on your loss and the many conversations held and advice given to myself. There will never be another "Big Bill"--When it came down to education, he was one of the best that ever did it and the Kids he influenced got away with it--Degrees as well as influence for beter lives!!!!!

To the Chavis family:

I knew Bill through CCPS; he was instrumental in helping my son and me. I always knew him to be kind, gentle, and honest- in short, a wonderful person who made it his business to look out for the rights of children and to do 'right' by them.

My heart breaks for you, and I will keep you in my thoughts. My family owes so much to Bill, and for this he will never be forgotten.

Sincerely,

Beverly Gibson-Bryant
