It is an honor and privilege to have known such a man, whom I met many years ago when I came to Ft. Wayne. I remember coming into the restaurant to purchase “Dick Gregory’s” health products and leaving with chicken! The Brooks have been in service to the community for a long time……………
This proud elder brought wisdom, joy and pleasure to Ft. Wayne. The Brooks Family legacy is connected to his vision. We should celebrate his life.... he touched the lives of so many. My thoughts and prayers are to the family, particular to Mrs. Brooks whose support/partnership/greatness of being a wife can never be overstated. Nothing happens without family…family nurtures, protects and supports…Mr. Brooks was a man that represents his family! We all should remember and be proud of our Elder. Stay strong and remember the good!

To Auntie and my Brooks Family,

Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console,
not so much to be understood as to understand,
not so much to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we awake to eternal life.

- St. Francis of Assisi

Be comforted by your memories.

I'm so sorry for the lost of Mr. Brooks. I remember when I use to live on Lewis St & McCulloch St, how my family would come there buy the ribs/chicken. The food was Great, miss the taste. To Helen and Jaela-my prayers are with you both and the family.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Brooks. While growing up in the 70s & 80s I remember playing basketball at the Y, and u could smell the BBQ coming from Brooks. People use to come from miles around to get some Brooks. I was always proud to say that Brooks was "Neighborhood". My thoughts & prayers to the Brooks family. Much love....
