Della Brewer Barnes

Barnes Della Brewer Barnes, age 92, of Midlothian, Va., formerly of Wytheville, passed from this life on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Della was the last survivor of nine brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, S.R. "Doc" Barnes; son, Joe Allen Barnes; and daughter, Linda Barnes. She is survived by her son, R.W. "Bill" Barnes of Midlothian; daughter, Joyce Viars of Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren, Wendy and husband Roger McClure, Joseph Barnes, Dallas Viars, Stacey Viars (aka Libbey Satine), two great-grandchildren, Braxton McClure and Brianna Viars; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Della graduated from nursing school in 1971. She spent her entire life as a nurse in the private sector. Della was an active member of her church for over 60 years. Her hobbies included gardening and making rhubarb jam and biscuits. She was famous for her hot biscuits and good cooking. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Word of Life Ministries with Pastor Gary Cope and the Rev. Ed Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in West End Cemetery.
