Joseph Robidas Obituary

Joseph Armand Robidas
Joseph Armand Robidas, age 87, passed away at Wentworth Douglass Hospital on Saturday, March 27, 2021 after complications from surgery.
He was born on July 6, 1933 on a farm in Barre, VT where his first job was to tend the chicken coop. He enjoyed a 32-year career with the Prudential Insurance Co., retiring on July 11, 1988. The Robidases were a musical family. He learned banjo and guitar, and played with his siblings at many family gatherings. His belief in God and his daily devotions kept his faith strong, and he served as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Joseph's Church. His humble and warm demeanor, and his friendly attitude toward people and life was infectious. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is predeceased by his first wife Constance Robidas, and son Michael Robidas.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Shirley Ellsmore Robidas; his daughter Suzanne Babel and her husband Donn; his son David Robidas and his wife Susan; his daughter-in-law Patricia Robidas; his daughter Julie-Jo Gullotti; and his son Anthony Robidas and his wife Donna. He is survived by his stepchildren Laurie Dalton, Bonnie Cote, and Dana Ellsmore. He also leaves behind his brother, Marcel Robidas, and his sister, Doris Grant and her husband Ralph. He will be remembered as Pépère by his 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Services: There will be a Christian mass at St. Joseph's Church on Central Ave., in Dover on Friday, April 9th 10:30am.

I am sorry to read of Joe's passing. I remember him when he was dating Connie. I was a good friend of Connie's sister, Joanne. I remember when he and Connie got married. Lost touch with all of them through the years, though. I do remember him as being a very pleasant man.

My deepest sympathy to Joe’s family as they mourn his loss.
I and my family first knew Joe as our Prudential Insurance representative who stopped by on a regular basis. He had then and continued for the rest of his life having a wonderful caring personality. Later in life our paths crossed when he married a classmate of mine, Shirley, another person with a sweet personality. Rest In Peace Joe and prayers to the family for your loss.

Dear Robidas family,

When I was a teenager, Joe would visit my parents annually to review their insurances. One year, I asked if I could sit down to the meeting and listen.

3 years later of listening; Joe asked if I wanted to come to work for him when I graduated high school. I respectfully declined. I wanted to go to college.

Had I known that shortly after graduating college I would also embark on a career in the financial services industry approaching 30 years myself starting with MetLife, I perhaps should have said yes and learned from him.

Whenever I meet a local Robidas; I always asked them if they are related to Joe. Whenever I meet a new long-term member of the Prudential community I ask them if they know Joe.

He had a positive impact on me . . . and as a result, thousands of my customers and clients can be thankful. I'm sure all of his past clients are glad to have met him as well.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the entire family (immediate and the nieces/nephews Sheila and Troy, that I did know from school or the industry).

Thank you Joe for being an inspiration to me and allowing a young man to listen to you talk to his parents about the value of life insurance and investments.

If you impacted me this much, I can only imagine the positive impact you had on those that were closest to you.

May God continue to watch over your family from heaven above as you are able to rest in the afterlife knowing you did well with you family and friends.

My deepest sympathy to all of them, and your legacy will not be forgotten.
