Thomas Tiernan Obituary
Thomas was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts on July 30, 1996, to Timothy and Christine (Feeney) Tiernan. He grew up in Lebanon where he attended local schools, graduating from Noble High School in 2014. He had been attending the University of Southern Maine in Gorham. Thomas was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome when he was a young child. He worked very hard to overcome and even embrace his diagnosis. He was a strong advocate, not only for himself but for anybody challenged with disability and was always happy to speak with others to help educate them about autism.
Thomas was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Thérèse Parish. He loved movies and learning about the movie industry, especially science fiction. He had a wonderful imagination and an excellent sense of humor that touched everyone around him. He enjoyed reading, writing and going fishing. Thomas will be remembered as a kind and loving son, brother and grandson and being a part of his life was a gift to all of his family and friends
Surviving are his parents, Timothy Tiernan of Lebanon and Christine Tiernan of North Berwick; three siblings, James (Seamus) Tiernan, Finn Michael Tiernan, and Deirdre Agnes Tiernan, all of Lebanon; his paternal grandmother, Patricia Ann Tiernan of Chichester, New Hampshire and his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Maureen Feeney of Braintree, Massachusetts and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
SERVICES: Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 13th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14th at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Waban Projects, Inc., 5 Dunaway Drive, Sanford, Maine 04073.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

I didn't know what to say then and I don't know what to say now. I can't imagine the pain your going through Christine. Because of your son, I have hope. And I'm guessing he spread hope all around him. I do believe he's in God's arms, as he is a child of God, who loves him so much. I also believe he's watching over you, and maybe you don't feel it but he is smiling. I'm sorry he was called home so soon, as we all will be someday. And I believe that one day, you'll all be together as a family again. He's with you in love and spirit now. You haven't left my prayers.

The Strout family extends their prayers and deepest condolences on Tommy's passing. I had many conversations with Tommy at the hockey rink while Seamus or Finn were on the ice. He was pure and innocent. I will always remember him that way and may he dwell in the house of our Lord forever more.

Thomas was a pleasure and joy to know and he touched so many lives in such a positive manner. Coaching Thomas brought such joy to my life and he was quite the character! I remember the first match he won how excited he was and his mom, Christine got so excited she literally picked me right up off the floor! I was grateful to,have had the pleasure of being part of his youth and am deeply saddened by your (our) loss of him . I will always be grateful for the time and memories I had with him.

Our family sends our deepest condolences. Though words cannot ease your grief, please know that Tom was loved by many of his peers and will be remembered with greatest admiration. I have two children that have gone to school with Tommy. They really thought a lot of him...he was kind, funny, and such a great friend to many.
